Barcus and Elizabeth Kirk (1821-1911) married on 27 June 1844 in Jefferson county, Ohio. His occupation in the 1850 Federal Census was "miner." Six children were born to the couple. Barcus was hospitalized for sickness at Fortress Monroe, Hampton, Virginia, and died at Patterson Park General Hospital in Baltimore of diarrhea.
