E.W. "Bill" Manion Jr., 73, of Decatur died 10:30 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 25, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Mr. Manion was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Macon County, the son of Evans W. Manion Sr. and Delma Lane Manion. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1985 as a supervisor. He was a member of the VFW Post 99, American Legion Post 105, Elks, Moose and Caterpillar Retirees Club. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinal fan. He married Juanita H. French May 1, 1948. She preceded him in death March 12, 1997. He married Jean Russell Nov. 4, 1997.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Sue and husband Greg of Decatur; Shirley and husband Tom of Decatur; Sherry and husband Randy of Mount Zion; stepsons, Brad of California; Gayle of Pasadena, Md.; Shannon of Olympia, Wash.; grandchildren, Joe and wife Rachael; Josh and wife Shannen; Teri, Marie and friend Chris, Sally, Alisha, Heather and William; great-grandchildren, Robert, Aaliyah, Hayley, Hunter, Naudia-Nicole; sisters, Amelia Mae and Elsie Lou, both of Decatur; brothers-in-law, Ken and wife Marianne of Nacogadoches, Texas; Gale of Decatur; Sam of Bethlehem, Pa.; five step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one daughter, one grandson, four sisters and special friend Dewey French.
