Peter (Pete) M. Hoff, 92, of Arlington Washington, passed away at his home on April 29, 2021. Pete was born September 4, 1928 in Everett Washington. He was the youngest of seven children born to Frank A. Hoff and Lillie (Hovde) Hoff. A 1947 graduate of Edmonds High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April of 1948. Pete retired from active USN duty in August 1968, and then served 10 years in the Navy Fleet Reserves. Along the way, he earned Korean War and Vietnam Era service medals, and rose to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the USN, Pete worked for The Boeing Company until 1970, then for 12 years with the Nord Door Company as a millwright. After leaving Nord, he ran his own electrical contracting business for a couple of years, and then managed a residential mobile home park until he officially called it a day, bought a fifth wheel pickup truck and trailer, and hit the road for a few years. Pete was married three times. In 1953, he met his first wife, Dianne, while both were serving in the USN at Jacksonville Naval Air Station. They had five children: Michael, Mildred, Peter, David and Glen. They divorced in 1978, and in 1980 Pete married his second wife Barbara Bailey. Pete and Barb were travelling buddies, criss-crossing the country for extended periods in their RV. They also travelled by RV through parts of Canada and Mexico. Their last trip together occurred in January 2000, with Barb passing away at their Florida destination. Pete returned that winter to their Lynnwood home, and that summer he attended his high school class reunion, where he discovered that his former high school sweetheart, Margaret "Maggie" Olds, was living on her own in Eugene Oregon. Not too much later, Pete called on Maggie at her Eugene home, and shortly afterwards they married, and after some more RV adventures, they settled into their new home at the Gleneagle golf course community in Arlington Washington. They lived together until Maggie's passing in 2016. Pete then stayed on by himself at their Arlington home until his passing. Pete loved travelling. When he wasn't RV'ing, he could be found on fishing trips to Alaska and British Columbia (most recently in 2019) with his youngest son Glen, or hosting family members and friends at the Hale Koa hotel in Waikiki. He was adept at repairing electrical equipment and systems, a skill set he picked up while in the USN. He was proud of his military service, and openly displayed his patriotism and love of country. Pete was very fond of his neighbors at Gleneagle, as they looked after him in his advancing years. Pete is survived by his children Michael (and spouse Joan), Mildred, Peter (and spouse Lisa), and Glen; children through marriage Craig Bailey, Mark Bailey (and spouse Nora), and Kim Howard (and spouse Margaret); and grandchildren Andrew Hoff, Grant Hoff, Justin Hoff, Amy Vetter, and Eddie Richardson, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pete is preceded in death by his son David, his first wife Dianne, his second wife Barb, his third wife Maggie, and all six of his siblings.
A full military funeral service will be held at the City of Arlington Cemetery later this summer, with attendance limited to extended family members and close neighbors.
