Actress, model of the 1940s-1950s best remembered as Dr. Patricia Blake in the sci-fi film classic 'Invaders From Mars'(1953). In prior films she was otherwise mostly known to play the love interest of the leading men due to her beauty, poise, spark and intelligence. Born Helen Rickerts to parents of Scottish descent, her original aspirations of teaching were redirected to professional acting upon discovery by a film producer while visiting Universal Studios resulting in a seven year contract. Notable films to follow included 'Intrigue'(1948) with George Raft and June Havoc, 'River Lady '(1948) with Yvonne de Carlo, 'The Fighting O'Flynn '(1949) as Douglas Fairbanks Jr's love interest, the comedy 'Double Crossbones'(1950) with Donald O'Connor, 'South Sea Sinner'(1951) with Shelley Winters, 'Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye'(1950) with James Cagney, 'Fort Worth'(1951) with Randolph Scott, 'Bugles in the Afternoon'(1952) with Ray Milland and lastly in 'Invaders from Mars'(1953).
