Mark Douglas Assman, 34, of Ogilville, formerly of North Vernon, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Columbus.
The Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Vance officiating. Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery in Paris Crossing.
Mr. Assmann was owner and operator of Star Transport at Ogilville. He was a former truck driver at Lee's Ready Mix and Jennings County Farm Bureau Co-op. He was the former owner of Nebraska Grocery in Jennings County.
A 1987 graduate of Jennings County High School, he attended the Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Columbus. He enjoyed dogs, hunting, fishing, working on vehicles and was a moto-cross racer.
Born Dec. 1, 1969, in Jackson County, he was the son of Rainer Assmann of Orlando, Fla., and Anna M. Huff Clark of Ogilville.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a son, Mark Jerel Assmann, and a daughter, Valaree Alaine Assmann of Butlerville; his stepfather, Richard Dale Clark of Ogilville; his grandmother, Margot Assmann of Immenhausen, Germany; two brothers, Tony Assmann of Columbus and Jim Assmann of Orlando; and a sister, Dantie Davis of Paris Crossing.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Heinz Assmann and Pleasant Huff; a stepfather, Paul Wayne Switzer; and his grandmother, Anna Louise Huff.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to a trust fund for Mr. Assmann's children established at Centra Credit Union.
