Helen Sue Tanner Hamilton, 89, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Helen Sue was born on March 4, 1932, in Lucedale, MS, to the late Burlin Gaines Tanner and Pearl McCullough Tanner. She graduated from Agricola High School in 1949. After high school, Helen Sue attended Mississippi Southern College.
Helen Sue participated in and enjoyed numerous activities in her life including being involved in church, volunteering her time at a local hospital, sewing, making ceramics, and working.
She was a devoted wife and mother that cherished her family and always seemed to put others' needs ahead of her own.
In addition to her parents, Helen Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Hermes Hamilton, her brothers, Winfred Tanner and Douglas Tanner, and sisters, Corrine Morgan and Audrey Mae Morgan.
She is survived by her children, Brian William (Echo Louise) Hamilton, Barry Stephen (Teri) Hamilton, and Lori Diane Lawrence; grandchildren, Kobie William Hamilton, Kolten Wallace Hamilton, Ross W. (Brianne) Leblanc, Jr., Scarlet R. Leblanc, and James Gregory Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Alyss Marie Williams, Joe Wesley Williams, Malcolm Eugene Williams, Charlotte Ryan Leblanc, and Penelope Blake Leblanc; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Hurley United Methodist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. David Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Hamilton Family Cemetery in Hurley with Kobie Hamilton, Kolten Hamilton, Len Morgan, Benny Watts, Douglas Tanner, Jr., and Bobby Cooley serving as pallbearers.
