Martin Richard Ochoa Bettles, 25, resident of Portland and former Mission resident, died Saturday, September 3, 2016, in Portland, Oregon.

Martin was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

He was raised in Mission, Oregon. He attended
Cay-Uma-Wa Head Start, Mission Seventh-day Adventist School, Washington Elementary School, Sammamish High School in Bellevue, WA, and Nixyaawii Charter School in Mission, OR, graduating in 2009.

He was currently a student at Portland Community College in Portland, OR. He had lived in Mission, OR, Chiloquin, OR, Bellevue, WA, and Portland, OR.

He enjoyed Pow Wow drumming and dancing and basketball. He was also a gifted lyricist.

He was preceded in death by grandmothers Priscilla Bettles and Hannah Kash Kash, aunt Jody Anne Bettles, and uncle Richard Brandon Ochoa.

The dressing Ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton Chapel.

The Washat service will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Agency Longhouse in Mission.

Final Seven will begin at 7:00 am Friday morning, September 9, 2016, at Agency Longhouse with burial to follow at Tutuila Cemetery in Mission.
