DAVENPORT Bessie Mae Hartford Davenport, on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her earthly home. Daughter of the late Henry and Edith Johnson Hartford; loving wife for 56 years of Loney Davenport; devoted mother of Lonnie Gail Davenport Caldwell and Claudette Davenport Smith of Baton Rouge, La, Ernest Davenport of New Orleans, La, Leroy Davenport of Baker, La., and the late Yvonne D. Griffin and Larry Davenport; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; sister of the late Alfred Hartford, Earline H. McCray, Jessie Lee Peassett, and Mayola Hartford; mother-in-law of Geneva Davenport; sister-in-law of Mamie Davenport of Baton Rouge, and Mattie Davenport of Rosedale, La; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pastors, officers and members of New Gideon, Beulah and McKowen Baptist Churches, and all area churches, are invited to attend the Homegoing Services on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at New Gideon Baptist Church, 2542 Balis Drive, Baton Rouge, La 70808. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. Rev. Thomas N. Bessix, Officiating. Interment at Southern Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Desselle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
