Obituary for George F. "Pete" Tatman
George F. "Pete" Tatman, 74, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 in the arms of his loving family at his home in Richardson, TX. Pete was born in Oklahoma City on August 2, 1945 to Denver L. Tatman and Elizabeth (Betty) Bell Tatman.

After graduating from Richardson High School, he received his accounting degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968. He joined The Guardian Life Insurance Company in 1969 providing dedicated service to his clients for which he was declared Life Underwriter of the Year in 1989 by the Dallas Association of Life Underwriters. He continued working for The Guardian until 2010. During his career he became a Certified Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and provided financial and accounting consultancy for various other companies before fully retiring in 2014.

In 1976 Pete was the recipient of the Soroptimist Club of Dallas Hurdle Award. In 1981 he won First Place in the Daybreakers Toastmasters Club Serious Speech Contest. He was a member of Arapaho United Methodist Church, greatly enjoying fellowship with the Methodist Men group and received the Dick Bourne Outstanding Service Award in 1997. Pete was a dedicated member of Richardson Noonday Lions Club and later Richardson Host Lions Club, serving in many positions including President.

In 1975 he met the love of his life, Arva Jean Mohr. After a short courtship, they were married on November 8, 1975. They raised their three children in Dallas, Texas and moved to Richardson in 2010 where they have enjoyed living down the street from 3 of their grandchildren. Pete persevered through many physical challenges in his adult life and served as a beautiful example of grace in suffering by frequently saying "I am so blessed." He was greatly loved by his family and friends and loved well in return.
Pete is survived by his treasured wife of 44 years, Arva; daughter Katie (David) Brugger, grandchildren Evangeline, Johnny, and Patrick; daughter Megan (Gareth) Montgomery, grandchildren Abraham, Liviana, and Theodore; son Denver (Marla) Tatman; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
