Bobby E. Harber, age 81, passed away on June 30, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Harber Sr. and Cornie Harber; brothers: Jerry Jr., Harold, Harry, Ray, R.J., Victor, sisters: Kathleen, Lorene Mounger Harber, and Ada Harber Osborne.
He is survived by brother Franklin (Joe) Harber, sister Jerelene Harber, as well as many nephews and nieces and their families.
Bobby graduated from Thomas Walker High School. From there he earned a degree from Lincoln Memorial College then went on to Peabody College where he obtained his master's degree. Years later, he was inducted into Lincoln Memorial University's Hall of Fame for his leadership in the field of education. He served 2 years in the Army.
He taught 3l years of grade school in Noblesville, Indiana. After school he was involved in being a coach to several little league softball teams. He involved himself in that community with various activities all those years. After 4 years of retirement in Noblesville, he decided to return to his beloved home town, Rose Hill, Virginia.
He was a member of Morgan Memorial Methodist Church and the Lion's club. He contributed many education scholarships at LMU to single Mothers for many years. He led Bible bingo classes at Tri State Regional Nursing Home in Harrogate, TN. He was continually on the lookout for community activities in which he could participate. Overall, from being a leader in the church to someone who would mow a yard for a stranger, he always was busy and happy with whatever project he took on. He lived a very fruitful life.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Morgan Memorial Methodist Church in Rose Hill, VA. A memorial service will follow with Norman Clark officiating.
