Swanton—, June 3, — M. A. Weatherwax died this afternoon about 3 o'clock at the home of S. K. Butterfield where he boarded. Mrs. Weatherwax died in a hospital at St. Albans this spring. Mr. Weatherwax was a soldier of the Union Army in the Civil War. He had been great suffer for many years but had been about until within a few days.

M. A. Weatherwax, about 60 years of age, died yesterday [3 Jun] afternoon of Bright's disease at the residence of S. K. Butterfield. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and for injuries received in that struggle drew a pension from the government of $30 per month. He leaves no relatives, his wife having died within the past year. The funeral arrangements had not been completed last evening.

The funeral of M. A. Weatherwax who died Wednesday [3 Jun] afternoon, will be held at the home of s. K. Butterfield Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. W. C. Bernard officiating. The G. A. R. post will furnish bearers and and an escort. Mr. Weatherwax was about sixty years old, a veteran of the Civil War in which he was wounded several times, and from the effect of the wounds and exposure in the war for the Union, he had been a constant suffer ever since. He was popular particularly with the old veterans. His wife who was a sister of the late Mrs. C. F. Smith, died last year, and he leaves no family and no known relatives except his wife's relatives.
