Elmire was the daughter of Lewis/Louis M. Davidson and Marie Francoise "Filliette" Marchand.

She was married three times. She married Nicols Blanchard on 24 Mar 1863 in New Orleans. It appears that they separated and he remarried Marie Trevigne and had another family. She married Henri Louis Peire on 29 Oct 1876 in New Orleans and he died five days after they were married. She married Ira Couch on 7 May 1878 in Paterson, New Jersey under the name of Maria C Peire.

She had two children with Nichols Blanchard: Nicholas J. Blanchard (26 Apr 1861-30 Oct 1883) and Jane Blanchard (4 Sep 1862-25 Jul 1863). Both were born and died in New Orleans. She also had a second son in which she did not list the father of the child on the birth certificate. His name was Robert Michel Clark (4 Jun 1864-12 Nov 1867). He was born and died in New Orleans, too. Her older brother, Pierre Davidson, was the informant on the child's death certificate. Later in life, she adopted Arnold Joseph Evans (21 Feb 1878-May 1969) as her son. He was born in New Orleans and lived with Elmire and her husband throughout their lives, after she was a widow, and until she died.

While her father Lewis M Davidson was white and from Scottish ancestry, her mother Marie Francoise Filliette Marchand had a multi racial background. Through Elmire's life in documentation, she has been referred to as white, black, colored or mulatto.

Through her mother, she is the older half-sister to Therese Antionette "Angela" Boguille Corbyn and older full sister to Marie Davidson DeCourcelles, who are both buried at Ocean View Cemetery as well.
