Mr. Kenneth D. Barnes, 74, of Buttermilk Road, Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born November 19, 1946 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Oscar Barnes and Claudine (Strang) Bakner. He was a lifelong resident of the South Mountain, PA and Waynesboro areas.

Mr. Barnes graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1964.

He and his wife of over 53 years, Wanda J. (Verdier) Barnes, were married on January 26, 1968 in South Mountain.

Mr. Barnes worked at Mack Truck as an assembler for several years. Prior to retiring in 2011, he worked as a certified nursing assistant at the South Mountain Restoration Center.

He was a member of the South Mountain Fish and Game and Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club.

Mr. Barnes enjoyed working, hunting, and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Melodi S. Barnes (Randy) of Waynesboro, Kenneth D. Barnes, Jr. (Candy) of Waynesboro, and Karen J. Bingaman (Frank) of Waynesboro; one granddaughter, Brianna Barnes; two brothers, Marvin Barnes of South Mountain and Lennis Barnes of Waynesboro; four sisters, Connie Voss of Fayetteville, PA, Bonnie Chamberlain of Zullinger, PA, Deb Bakner of Zullinger, and Rhonda Rowe of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kailyn R. Bingaman.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Terry Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the funeral home.
