Barbara Janene Miller, 57, of Jefferson City died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born March 15, 1947 in Clarinda, Iowa, a daughter of Orvis Austin and Carolyn Maxine Nelson Wagaman.

She was a 1965 graduate of Villisca High School in Villisca, Iowa, and a 1967 graduate of the C.E. School of Commerce in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked for Union Pacific Railroad from 1967 to 1984; the State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health from 1984 to the present; and for Sears from 2002 to the present.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was active in the church's Mentoring Program and Sarah Circle. She was also a member of the Business Women's Association - Lavita Chapter. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas City Royals.

She is survived by her parents, Orvis and Carolyn Wagaman of Omaha, Nebraska; one son, Marc Miller and wife Katie of Jefferson City; one daughter, Molly Miller of Jefferson City; two sisters: Beverly Boe of Gretna, Nebraska; Brenda Rotella of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, Jan Wagaman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Meghan and Garrett Miller of Jefferson City; her friend and former husband, Jon Miller of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Barbara Gulick officiating. Additional visitation and services will be held in Villisca, Iowa, with interment on Friday, August 13, 2004 in the Villisca Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Christian Church Mentoring Program or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main St., (573) 636-3838.
