F. John Myers, 84, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Friday morning, July 9, 2021 at Adams Memorial Hospital.

He was born on January 4, 1937 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Hugh Myers and late Laura L. (Fleming) Myers.

John was united in marriage to Carolyn L. Scherer on May 17, 1959 at St. Peter Lutheran Church- Fuelling and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2004.

He served in the National Guard.

John was a 1957 graduate of Monmouth High School. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church- Fuelling, where he served as a long time Deacon and was a former member of the school board. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #43.

He was formerly employed at Myers Firestone in Decatur and also Central Soya (now Bunge) in Decatur before he started at BF Goodrich, which he retired from after 33 years of service.

John liked to play basketball and track in his younger years. He enjoyed playing cards, tractor pulls, and bowling. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed IU and Ball State basketball.

He is survived by two sons, Tim A. Myers and Brian D. (Myra) Myers; two daughters, Christy S. (Roger) Schwartz and Lori A. (Steve) Demo all of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Harry T. Myers of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Gladys (Jim) Coyne of Decatur, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Spencer Myers, Marissa (Anthony) Aguon, Vincent (Briana) Myers, Brandon (Jessie) Myers, Trent (Jess) Myers, Hannah Myers, Avery Simonson, Ross (Miricle) Simonson, Steven (Jess) Demo, Aaron (Shaina) Schwartz, Ben Schwartz and Nick (Ashley) Schwartz; and eight great-grandchildren, John, Brandi, Axel, Liz, Audrey, Madden, Vivian, and Nijah.

Floyd was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Andrews and Carolyn Myers at the age of 10.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2021 at St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling with Pastor Leonard Tanksley officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery- Fuelling.

Friends and family will be received from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling.
