Nathan was a descendent of Robert EYRE and Ann SMITH, settlers in Bethel twp, Chester (now Delaware) Co., PA c 1682. Nathan was a farmer and a member of the Society of Friends and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Their childen were: Sarah Larkin, Joseph Larkin, Philena W, Pennell Larkin, Louisa B and Nathan Larkin EYRE, Jr. Their son, Joseph Larkin EYRE ran away from home and enlisted in 1861 in the 97th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and was killed at Port Royal, South Carolina, August 4, 1863. Joseph is buried in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.

Nathan married Ann LARKIN, dtr of Salkeld and Ann (Pennell) LARKIN, on 26 Sep 1838, in Delaware Co, PA.
