Tribes Hill resident Lynn Grandy Butler went home to be with the Lord on Febuary 10, 2014, in Orlando, Florida. By her side was her devoted husband, Gary Butler, lifetime friend, Barbara Sanders, and her second cousin, Kathy Keeler Guzman, originally from Galway. Her homegoing was peaceful after a long bout with cancer and a bone marrow transplant last year.

Born in 1948, the daughter of George and Nellie Frasier Grandy of Canajoharie, Lynn is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Gary H. Butler, her aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Grandy of Canajoharie who were like second parents to her, two brothers-in-law, Alan and James Butler, one nephew, six nieces, seven grand-nieces and two grand-nephews and many cousins throughout the United States.

Her ambition since 3rd grade was to become an elementary school teacher. After graduation from Canajoharie High School, she went on to further her education at Cedarville College in Ohio, completing her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and went on to complete a Masters Degree at the State University of New York at Oneonta. She accomplished her dream and began in 1970 teaching mostly Kindergarten. Lynn retired from teaching at the Fonda-Fultonville Central School in 2002, after 32 years of service. Children brought great joy and meaning to her life, as she developed the gift to become a child's best friend and treated them as her very own. She provided monthly opportunities to get to know her student's parents and siblings through Family Nights at the school.

Lynn's father, George Grandy, encouraged her to write a book to share some of her teaching ideas, so she did just that and called it Buzzin' with Buzzy. She and her husband sold many copies in the United States and in France, and also donated many to school teachers, libraries, homeschool parents and grandparents.

Another one of Lynn's passions that she shared with her husband was music. She played the piano and organ and loved to sing in a choir. She incorporated music in the classroom and events she helped to plan for various occasions. Lynn also used her gifts of teaching, music and organizing as a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gloversville, NY . She and her husband also played the organ and piano at Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church in Tribes Hill, NY .

Lynn and Gary enjoyed spending time in Orlando, Florida, soaking in the warm sun and appreciating God's creation each day. God was an important part of her life and she could rest in the fact that God would lead each step she took throughout her life. She lived with a genuine confidence that heaven is an absolute truth. The Gospel message was always close to her heart. Her love for the Lord was evident as she faithfully supported missions, gave to those in need and encouraged others going through difficult days to put their trust in the Lord.

She sincerely felt that each day was a gift and served to give back to the Lord through remembrance and appreciation. Friendship and the care of others were indeed the highlight of her life. She had a life full of wonderful memories that she cherished each day. She greatly enjoyed and appreciated family and friends and she is now rejoicing in heaven in God's presence.
