He was a member of the Armstrong Class of l937. A longtime member of Sharon Baptist Church, former member of the Shriners, Past Worshipful master of Richmond Masonic Lodge #65, West End Senior Center and the all Souls Leisure Group.
He was married to the late Annie Taylor for 35 years. From that union, He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, William Benjamin (Alberta) of Cincinatti, OH, Chester Arthur (Charlotte) and James Henry III of Richmond and three daughters, Cassandra Bell (Walter), Carol Coleman and Margaret Lapierre (Jan), all of Richmond; sisters-in-law, Sarah Kane and Grace Baccus of Richmond, Ruth Jackson of Florida and Anita Brown of New York.
At His death, He was married to Althea Levy and from that union, there is one stepdaugher, Marcia Charles. From both unions, there are 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchilden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
