Randy L. Sissel, 47, St. Louis, formerly of Jefferson City, died July 29, 2000, in St. Louis.

He was born March 13, 1953, a son of Marvin and Beverly Sissel. His parents survive in Rogersville. He was married June 23, 1979, in Springfield, to Rita Blankenburg, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Rogersville High School, he received bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a news and sports reporter for KGBX Radio, Springfield, and a political and labor reporter for the Springfield Daily News.

He was press secretary for John Ashcroft when Ashcroft was attorney general and governor. He was director of marketing and development/corporate and annual giving for the University of Missouri-Columbia Athletic Department. In St. Louis, he was communications manager for consumer awareness and education at Anheuser-Busch Companies.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Jaime Kaylee Sissel, of the home; one brother, Tony Sissel, Lebanon; one sister, Delana Hickman, Rome, Ga.; and grandmother, Gretta Holloway, Springfield.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church, Chesterfield. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at White Chapel Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bopp Funeral Home, Kirkwood.

Memorials are suggested to "Shelter the Children" of St. Louis or to Chesterfield Presbyterian Church.
