Betty Jo (Harrison) Petree of Blanchard, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the age of 88.

Betty was the daughter of Volney Walker & Pearl (Self) Harrison. Following the death of her father, Pearl married Walter Brasel several years later and Walter considered Betty his daughter and she looked to him as her father.

She was a former resident of Newton and Boone Counties having been born at Dry Shop Creek near Parthenon, Arkansas and living in Jasper, Arkansas with her family until 1972 when they moved to Harrison, Arkansas (Boone County). She worked for the Arkansas State Department of Health as an Area Manager until her retirement. She had worked her way up through the ranks from a clerk in the Newton County Health Unit to a managerial position in the 37 years she was employed with the Arkansas Department of Health. She was always proud of her work ethic, her friends she made in 37 years and the changes she saw implemented because of her ideas.

In 2005 she and Charles moved to Oklahoma to be near their daughter Vicki. Betty Jo or "BJ" as so many loving friends called her, was married to Charles Petree for 58 years until his death in 2007.

Betty was a member of the Newcastle, Oklahoma United Methodist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, parents Volney Walker Harrison and Pearl and Walter Brasel, older brothers Billy Walker Harrison and Jolly Austin Harrison and her beloved Charlie Cat.

Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Vicki and devoted son-in-law Aaron Stuart, brother Richard T. Brasel (Bonnie), one granddaughter, Becca O'Dell (Clint), three bonus grandchildren, Carson, Josh and Julianne Stuart, two great granddolls, Abigail Grace and Emma Kate and one favorite little fur baby, Maggie May.

Betty leaves behind three ladies who were like sisters to her and were her best friends, Wanda Hogue, Delberta Keef and Leneal Christie. A host of friends and relatives will mourn her passing.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wanda Hogue, Darrell Jones, Delberta Keef and Paul Roten.
