Millie Baker was born 7 October, 1896, in Williamson, Texas. Her family were Texans, Louisianans, and Canadians. Young Millie loved school and reading books. She loved being in nature. The Williamson side of her family loved to entertain LDS missionaries. Her father objected to her baptism, but through 3 years' prayer and persistence, she became a member of the Church at 17 years old. Millie was determined to marry a member of the LDS Church. A missionary named John Farrimond came to Texas, and fell in love with her. After his mission, they were married in Texas and sealed in Salt Lake City. They settled in Idaho, where John pursued farming. Millie experienced much homesickness for her beloved Texas and her family. Her life history tells of bearing and raising their eight children in great poverty. She nursed children through smallpox and flu. She nearly died in the 1918 flu epidemic. Millie was a woman of great faith, trust in the Lord and His priesthood, and devotion to His church. She served faithfully in many callings. She experienced many blessings, revelatory dreams, and miracles. She lived to be 75 years old.
