Born March 12, 1924, in Crumpler, he was a son of the late Bine Franklin Sparks and Mary Doughtery Sparks.
Mr. Sparks had been a resident of Bramwell for 16 years and was a retired coal miner. He was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Osborn Sparks of Route 1, Bramwell; children, Juliet Friend and husband, Lewis of Coaldale, Bethany Belcher and son, Jessee of the home, and Ronald Murray and wife, Charyl of Green Valley; granddaughters, Belinda Wagner, Amanda Wagner, Danielle Friend and Emily Friend all of Coaldale; grandson, Jessee Belcher of Bramwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cravens Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Clark Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Bluewell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 9 p.m. today.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
