Laikyn was born the daughter of Brad and Stephanie Massey Shutts on June 28, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
She was a happy baby who always had a smile on her face and enjoyed snuggling. She loved her dogs Jacsie and Jasper and her Freddie the Frog puppet. Her other enjoyments included looking at herself in the mirror, being outside, going for car rides and watching football games, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, with her mom and dad.
Laikyn is survived by her parents, Brad and Stephanie Shutts of Grinnell; her paternal grandparents, Mike and Cathy Shutts of Grinnell; her maternal grandparents, Connie Massey and Kenny Fletcher of Wapello, Iowa and Jim and Geri Massey of Oakville; her great grandparents, Tom Fletcher of Wapello, Skip and Dorothy Timmerman of Wapello, William and Pauline Massey of Burlington; her paternal aunts and uncles, Jodie (James) McCauley and their daughter Sydney of Davenport, Julie Shutts of Omaha, Nebraska and Blaine Shutts of Grinnell; her maternal aunts and uncles, Morgan Massey of Oakville, Robert (Janey) Timmerman of Wapello, Annette (Tony) Thomas of Morning Sun, Iowa, Marie (Bill) Diderickson of Mediapolis, Iowa, Lyle (Carla) Timmerman of Wapello, Marsha Moore of Burlington, Iowa, Brian (Carol) Hackett of Mt.
