Louie Clark Baker, 73, of Amarillo died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Griggs-Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Cecil Burch of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Louie Clark Baker was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Wetumka, Okla., to Bowie Baker and Virtle Baker. He left Borger High School in the 11th grade to join the Marine Corps to serve in the Korean conflict in the 1st Marine 1st Baker Company. First, he attended the Naval Supply Center stateside in Oakland, Calif., the largest of its kind in the world at the time. He served in Korea from January 1952 to 1955.

He lived in Amarillo for 51 years. He married Dorothy Day of Lubbock on Aug. 25, 1956, in Clovis, N.M. Their 50th anniversary was celebrated last year. He retired after 16 years as a welder with Allison Blacksmith & Welding.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charlie Baker, Lucky Baker and Billy Baker; and a sister, Jimmie Baker.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Baker; a son, Marion Baker and wife Jamie of Canyon; three daughters, Marice Sands and husband Tommy of Amarillo, Tione Flanagan and husband Kenny of Canyon and Sharon Predmore and husband Tim of Elkhart, Kan.; a brother, George Baker of Arkansas; two sisters, Shirley Steward of Fort Worth and Diana Knight of Wetumka; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren (and one on the way).

The family suggests memorials be to Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
