DeCicco - Elsa, was born in Yonkers, NY on February 19, 1925. On July 15th, she peacefully left this life, surrounded by family at her daughter and son-in-law's home in E. Moriches. Left with decades of fond memories are her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Elsa's parents, Camillo and Nicoletta Tavano immigrated to this country from Villa Santa Maria, Italy. Elsa cherished trips back to Italy with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Being raised during the Depression shaped Elsa's formative years, and she was known to refabricate anything she could. Her husband's dress shirts turned into pillowcases, pillowcases into handkerchiefs, and handkerchiefs into patches. Nothing went to waste. Elsa was known as "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, where she assembled airplane parts in a Westchester, NY factory. During the war, she wrote many love letters to Adrio DeCicco, who she married upon his return from 3 years in Guadalcanal. They married on October 19, 1946 and had four children: Diane, Adrio, Mario, and Frank. Elsa referred to the moon as "la bella Luna" and would spontaneously serenade it with opera lyrics. She was an avid reader of history and biographies of those she admired, often remarking, "You watch, and history will repeat itself." Her motto in life was that "you need to laugh, you need to sing, and you need to dance," and a good glass of Italian red wine at dinner was never to be missed. https://www.moloneyfh.com/obituary/elsa-decicco/
