Cathy was born April 13th, 1963 as the only daughter to Richard and Marolyn Kay Bennett (nee Carpenter) in Buckhannon, West Virginia. When she was six months old, the family moved to Cocoa, Florida. Cathy attended Pineda Elementary, followed by Poinsett Middle School (where she briefly played the clarinet and was a cheerleader) and then Cocoa High. After graduation she attended Brevard Community College, but her education was cut short when she fell while attending a Rolling Stones concert in Orlando and severely broke her leg, spending eighteen months in a hip-to-ankle cast.

After her recovery, she entered the world of work, securing a job as a waitress at a small family-owned cafe in Merritt Island, Fl. She was popular and well-liked by both the owners and the regular customers. Eventually she followed after her mother and got a job working for the Post Office. She transferred to the USPS sorting facility near Orlando International Airport, became their #1 expiditer, and was highly respected by her fellow employees. She purchased an apartment in Sanford, where she lived for a time with several cats.

However, after the death of her mother in 2003 she began to have health problems of her own which eventually led to her moving back to her father's house in Cocoa, where she would commute to and from work each day. In 2018 she came home one afternoon to find that her father had passed away suddenly. This seemed to accelerate her health problems and from that point she appeared to slowly decline.

On July 9th, 2021 she was found at home, unable to walk and in a state of confusion. She was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and put on oxygen. The next day she was transferred to the ICU where it was discovered she had a bowel obstruction, but was too weak for surgery. She passed away just before 2pm on Sunday, July 11th with her maternal and paternal aunts by her side. Cathy was an organ donor.

Cathy lived a quiet life, never marrying or having children of her own. She could be amazingly clever and funny at times, but also a loner who would not reveal much about herself. Her loss leaves a huge void in the lives of her family, all of whom miss her greatly. In many ways she was the 'baby' of the family and her passing has taken, and will continue to take, a huge toll on those who loved her.
