Marilyn Jean (Hays) Blackford, age 77, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at her home in Hunnewell, Missouri.

Marilyn was born on August 29, 1942, in Shelby County, MO. She was the daughter of Harold and Nellie (Mefford) Hays. She was married to Ben Blackford on April 22, 1961 in Edina, Missouri.

Marilyn is survived by her husband; three children, Jeff Blackford of Hunnewell, MO, Debra Dowell of Shelbina, MO, and Tim Blackford of Monroe City, MO; eight grandchildren, Blair Joiner, Brittany Blackford, Bailey Dowell, Candace Blackford, Remington Moore, Thomas Blackford, Lacie and Austin Hayden; numerous great-grandchildren; four sisters, Linda Caldwell (Jim) of Shelbina, MO, Judy McClure (David) of Shelbina, MO, Diane VonThun (Roger) of Shelbyville, MO, and Sarah Christoffer (Larry) of Shelbina, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lowell Eugene; granddaughter, Heidi Jean Blackford; great-grandson, Ely Benton Joiner; two brothers, Harold Hays, Jr. and Donald Hays; two sisters, Carolyn Trivette and Juanita Perrigo.

Marilyn worked as a nurse's aide in Shelbina and Monroe City nursing homes for many years. She later loved to go back and visit them. Marilyn enjoyed fishing, camping, taking rides, shopping yard sales, and listening to George Jones. She especially loved spending time with family.
