Mary L. Mott, 86, of Brookhaven, Miss., whose work with immunization for children won an award, died in the morning of Feb. 4, 2000, in her home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1913, in New Castle, to Randall and Jeanette Dietrich Armstrong, both deceased. She married Charles H. Mott on April 6, 1940. He died in 1976.

Mrs. Mott received the Award of Merit from the Mississippi Extension Homemakers Council Program for her work to ensure that all children receive proper immunization. She was a member and past president of King's Daughters Hospital Auxiliary of Brookhaven.

She was Methodist.

Mrs. Mott is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Dale (Linda) Heasley of Raymond, Miss.; Arlene Likens and Mrs. David (Michele) Ratliff, both of Brookhaven; and Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Mele of Jackson, Miss.; a son, Burt M. Mott of Jackson, Miss.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Cowmeadow, Naomi Clements and Irene Fisher; and a brother, William Armstrong.

Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 3000 Wilmington Road. Services will be at noon Feb. 7 at the funeral home with the Rev. Randall J. Likens, Mrs. Mott's grandson, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
