Robert N. Oviatt, Boise, Idaho, passed away Nov. 15 from cancer. Bob was born March 19, 1926 in Pocatello, Idaho to Henrietta Heileson Oviatt and Phil H. Oviatt. The family soon moved to Boise where he grew up and later attended Boise High School until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in June of 1944. He served in the South Pacific theatre on a gunboat during battles in Saipan, Iwo Jima and Guam. He later graduated from Boise Junior College and married Phyllis Short in 1947. They were blessed with two children, Robin Oviatt Traver and Jeffrey J. Oviatt. Bob was a talented artist and worked at Idaho Power Company as a graphic illustrator, retiring after 35 years of service. He loved to camp, fish, and hunt and always had a project underway. He is survived by his daughter, Robin Traver, Boise; his son, Jeff Oviatt and wife, Tracie and their sons Cody and Chase, Boise; granddaughter, Shannon Traver, Boise; grandson, David Traver and wife, Amy, and great-grandson, Oliver, San Diego; grandson Jeffrey D. Oviatt and his children; numerous nieces and nephews, and some great friends. Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W. Bannock St., Boise, Idaho. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
