John E. Neidigh, Sr. of Newport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 19th 2021. He was the son of the late Leroy and Grace Pharalee Neidigh of Newport. He attended school in the Red Hill one room schoolhouse. He was an army veteran, serving from 1953 - 1955. He volunteered with both the Newport FIre and Ambulance Companies. He also helped with Boy Scout Troop 222 while his sons were involved in the troop. He attended church at Red Hill Church of God. He helped maintain the church cemetery for many years. He retired from the former TRW in Harrisburg. John enjoyed hunting, antique tractors,square dancing and telling stories.
He was married to Beverly for nearly 60 years, until her passing in March of 2020. He is survived by his sons John Jr (and companion Deb Foster) and William (Melissa); grandsons Austin and Jesse; his sister Opal Sheaffer; nieces Teresa DePatto and Nadine Sanders; as well as numerous cousins.
