Thomas "Tom" Gerald Green, 91, Elkhart, died 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born October 13, 1929, in Peoria, Illinois to Frank Owen & Alice Eugenia (Parker) Green.
On March 22, 1969, he married Jean Alice (Ehret) Green.
Surviving are his wife, Jean, Elkhart, children, Sherry Lyn Green, Donnel Lake, Michigan, Jean Marie Goss, South Bend, Richard (Judy) Owen Green, Chicago, 3 step-daughters, Kelly Gaugler, Garrett, Michele (Bob) Tierney, Elkhart, Ginger (Randy) Craigo, Elkhart, son-in-law, Rollie Lichmerowicz, Donnel Lake, Michigan, 10 grandchildren, Fairlight, Ryan, Alison, Thomas, Emily, Michael, Stephanie (Shawn) Orrill, Nick (Nyssa) Tierney, Alex (Marissa) Craigo, Hannah Gaugler, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
Preceding him in death are his parents, step-son, Mitchel Jay Gaugler and his wife, Cindy Pacifico Gaugler, 9 siblings, daughter, Jeri Ann Lichmerowicz and son-in-law, Bill Goss.
Tom served in the 11th Airborne Division, 675th Parachute Artillery during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1951. He worked as a licensed plumber for William Dreves Plumbing, Elkhart, 37 ½ years at Shriner's and Son's. Tom was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church, the United Association of the Plumbers and the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 166.
He was a proud Jimtown Jimmie Fan and Green Bay Packers. He coached little league baseball and was the biggest fan to his children's sporting events. He was the best TP driver around. He built his own zipline at the house for the children before they were poplar. Tom would help neighbors with plumbing work they needed done and would only request a pie as payment. He loved to do carpentry work and designed and built 5 houses.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at Olive (West) Cemetery. Pastor Steve Loft will officiate. Following the service everyone is invited to Jamestown United Methodist Church for pie, ice cream and coffee.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army or Jamestown United Methodist Church.
