Tunkhannock New Age 5/13/1909, Thu., p. 3: William Luce, Western Union telegraph messenger boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abner Luce, formerly of Laceyville, and Tunkhannock, PA, now of San Diego, Cal., was thrown from his bicycle at 9 am, April 24, sustaining a fracture of the skull at the base of the brain. He lived until 7 pm the 29th, but did not regain consciousness. The funeral was held on May 1. We found many friends from all parts of the city who offered help and sent flowers in abundance. The messenger boys in the city sent a beautiful floral pillow, and some of them acted as pall bearers.
