Model farms were created and many new schools and colleges were created that are still in operation. He was deposed in 1909 and exiled to Salonica. When Salonica came under a threat of invasion he was moved back to Istanbul where he died. He was 74 at the time of his death and even his greatest adversaries wept at his funeral.
