Joel retired following a 42-year career in sales and management with Thompson Tractor Company. Joel found his calling in life when he discovered his gift of fundraising for causes he believed in deeply. Joel was on the board of Marion Military Institute, where he was the 2013 Alumnus of the Year. He also served on the Foundation Board for the University of West Alabama.
Joel was a life-long member of Independent Presbyterian Church, where as an elder and an integral part of the life of the church. Joel is survived by his wife of 48 years, two daughters, and five beloved grandchildren.
