Adam Rocha Scripps, 60, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas.

Adam was born a twin on February 6, 1959, in Pecos, Texas, to Mariana Rocha Scripps and Robert Paine Scripps (the esteemed business leader and philanthropist). He was one of the family's 12 children, and all of Balmorhea, Texas, was a playground for young Adam, where he rode dirt bikes, and enjoyed building things on the family farm. The family moved to Fredericksburg in 1981.

He is survived by eight loving siblings: sister Rebecca S. Brickner and her husband Jeff of Fredericksburg; brother William A. Scripps and his wife Luz Maria of Fredericksburg; sister Corina S. Granado and her husband Ray of Fredericksburg; sister Margaret S. Klenzing and her husband Gary of Fredericksburg; brother Jimmy R. Scripps and his wife June of Fredonia, Texas; twin sister Eve S. Attal and her husband Osama of Pipe Creek, Texas; sister Mary Ann S. Sanchez and her husband George of Fredericksburg; and sister Virginia S. Vasquez and her husband Feliciano of Spring Branch, Texas. He also is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers (Robert P. Scripps Jr. of Fredericksburg, and Henry R. Scripps, of Dripping Springs, Texas) and a sister named Linda who passed when she was an infant.

Adam was a man of multiple hobbies and passions.

His beloved dog, a Yorkie mix named BB, was a source of great joy and affection for Adam in his later years and was emblematic of his longtime love of animals. He loved fast engines – whether in a boat, in one of his eye-catching sports cars, or the planes he learned to fly. And he loved music … especially music he could dance to!

Everyone who knew Adam was struck by his infectious smile and his relentlessly upbeat nature. Slaying Dragons, Richelle Goodrich's book of inspirational stories includes the line, "Have you ever noticed how the most intriguing individual in the room seems content to listen sooner than speak?" That describes Adam well, as he was known as a quiet, modest and humble man his entire life.

Those who are saddened by his passing at such a young age will be heartened to know that Adam's legacy will be enhanced by his philanthropic intent. Following in his parents' footsteps, Adam planned to touch countless lives for years to come through a generous plan of charitable giving.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions inAdam's honor be sent to Hill Country SPCA in Fredericksburg or to the charity of the donor's choice

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
