Florence Durand Gerard, age 88, of Shelton, died on January 18, 2005. Mrs. Gerard was born in Bridgeport on January 3, 1917, to the late John and Esther McGovern Rice and was a Shelton resident for 21 years. She was retired from the D.M. Read Co., where she was employed for l5 years. Survivors include four sons: Robert Durand (Katherine) of Georgia, James Durand, of Thomaston, Craig Durand (Sandy) of Lebanon, and Thomas Durand (Mary) of Virginia; a daughter, Linda Bruneau (Robert) of Milford; four sisters, Eleanor McWilliams, of Georgia; Dorothy Schmidt, Eileen Brown and Edith Magyar (George) all of Stratford; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gerard was predeceased by her former husband, Robert H. Durand. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
