Estelle Agnes McConnell, 81, of East Windsor, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Agnes was raised in Linden and then lived in Elizabeth before settling in East Windsor over 23 years ago. While living in Elizabeth, Agnes was very involved in her community, having been the Human Rights Commissioner for the City and serving on township committees. She continued to be involved in her community in East Windsor by serving as the President of the Home Owners Association at the Georgetown development. She graduated from the Manpower Program of Practical Nursing in Newark, NJ in 1973 and went on to work as a quality assurance nurse at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth until her retirement in June 2010. In her spare time Agnes enjoyed cooking, reading, needlepoint, and crocheting. A lover of music, she enjoyed listening to jazz, big band music, and was an avid Frank Sinatra fan.
Predeceased by her parents, John and Josephine Pirrocco; her husband, Harry T. McConnell; her brothers, Albert, Carmine, Thomas, and Tony Pirrocco; and her sister, Marie Fleming; she is survived by her son, David Pirrocco and his wife, Regina; her stepson, Kevin McConnell; and her grandchildren, Brandon Pirrocco, Kristen Pirrocco, and Michael McConnell.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Genevieve's Church, 200 Monmouth Rd., Elizabeth, NJ.
Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
