He was born on a Sunday and named after the preacher; God had a plan from the beginning. That plan was not revealed to Walter until he had graduated from Northwest High School, served in the United States Marine Corp, married and becomes the father of three children. He graduated from Atlanta Christian College and served churches in Georgia, Alabama, West Virginia and North Carolina. He shared the Gospel by teaching and preaching in many States and Countries around the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents George Dwight and Bessie Lindon Brewer, sisters Lillian Shore, Thelma Moyer, Magdalene Snow, Josephine Clifton, Betty Tuttle and Carroll Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Verna Lee Spainhour Brewer; two sons, Brent Lee (Jondra), Knoxville, TN and Brian Keith (Edie), West Chester, PA; a daughter, Desiree Gaye (Rick), Winchester, KY; his grandchildren, Erika (Nick) Lenzi, Kelly (Matt) Dean, Craig (Megan) Dye, Jared (Laura) Dye, Christian (Gretchen) Brewer, Lauren (Rusty) Baxter, Luke Brewer and Jordan (Jon) Blea, two brothers George (Jackie) Brewer, Bruce (Helen) Brewer, as well as a host of brothers and sisters in Christ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2 at Jefferson Christian Church, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045. Visitation following service.
