In this village, Friday morning, Sept. 1, 1882, at about half past two o'clock, Miss Mary J. Abraham of inflammation of the bowels, aged 22 years, 6 months and 2 days. Deceased had been sick some ten days and from the first but faint hopes were entertained for her recovery. Being a native of Shullsburg she was well known and universally beloved and respected for her many good qualities, and her death has caused a void in the community that will not soon be filled. Deceased was a devoted Christian young woman, consistent member of the M.E. church, a teacher of the Sabbath school.
The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon, from the residence of her parents and her remains were laid away in their last resting place amid the tears and sorrow of a large circle of sympathizing friends from this village and surrounding country.
