He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Janice (Hammer) Fusting; five children, Daniel Fusting Jr (Lori), David Fusting (Carolyn), Deborah Tross, Darlene Stockton (Wayne), and Diane Robinson (Clay); sixteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marlene Moore (Norvell) of Las Vegas, NV; and two nephews, Michael Moore (Amanda)of Wasilla, Alaska, and Stephen Moore (Carolyn)of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas George and Beatrice Francis (Barrett) Fusting.
He attended Saint Boniface Catholic school and upon graduating 8th grade he enrolled in the Passionist Priest Seminary in Saint Louis, MO to attend high school. After five years and upon returning to Louisville, he met his future wife, Mary and they were wed on May 9, 1959. Dan was a self-made man who had the courage to explore several different career paths before settling on management consulting in 1968. He went on to own and manage his own business over the course of the next 35 years. Dan was always devoted to his faith and shared that with his family. Dan and Mary further extended their family values through the organization and growth of youth groups starting at Saint Raphael in 1974. They helped influence and guide a generation of teenagers who participated in the youth groups during their critical formative years. Dan remained passionate about his Catholic faith throughout his entire life, and always remained very active in his parish. His sharing of faith culminated with publishing of his book The Catholic Church In The Third Millennium.
Funeral service is 10:00 AM on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive, Louisville, KY, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY. and includes a prayer vigil at 7:30pm.
