John Ernest Bubach was born July 25, 1958 in Bismarck, N.D., to Ernest and Florence (Simon) Bubach. He attended school in Bismarck, graduating in 1976. He then attended Minot State University and graduated with a BS Degree and also attended and graduated from the North Dakota Police Academy at Bismarck, N.D. John then worked construction at Beulah, N.D., for 2 years, and worked at various jobs until becoming a deputy for the Kidder County N.D., Sheriffs Department. Later he was appointed Kidder County Sheriff.
He was united in marriage to Lenore Ruth Westmeyer in Bismarck, N.D., on November 16, 1985. They made their home in Steele, N.D. before moving to Linton, N.D., where he was employed at the Sheriffs Department. They then moved to Elkton, S.D. in 1992 where he served as Chief of Police. He later worked at Maynards Affiliated Foods and continued working there until his death.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Hendricks, Minn. He enjoyed camping, fishing, singing, playing guitar and going pheasant hunting with his dog Mac. Survivors include his daughters, Beth and Linda of Elkton, S.D.; a sister, Lorelei (John) Gallagher of Carrington, N.D.; a niece, Asha Gallagher of Carrington, N.D.; aunt, Helen Bubach of Valley City, N.D.; many cousins and friends.
