Brainard Rites Held.
Galena, Kan., July 14. — Funeral
services for Mrs. E. L. Brainard
of Kansas City, former Galena
resident who died Thursday morning
in Chicago, were held at 3:30
o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist
church here. The Rev. William Hastie of
Kansas City, assisted by the Rev. R. C.
Lintner, pastor of the Galena Methodist
church, officiated. Burial was in Hill
Crest cemetery.

Will Be Returned There for
Funeral and Burial.


Galena. Kan., July 12.-- Mrs.
Emma Brainard
of Kansas City,
wife of the late A. K. Brainard,
and former well known Galena
resident, died this morning at a
hospital in Chicago. The body will
be brought to Galena for burial,
arriving here tomorrow afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at
3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at
the Methodist Episcopal church,
with the Rev. R. C. Lintner, pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Hill
Crest cemeterv.



Was Visiting daughter.

Mrs. Brainard was visiting with
a daughter, Miss Pearl Brainard,
in Chicago. She suffered a stroke
of paralysis a week ago today and
was taken to a hospital.

The Brainards came to Galena
about twenty-five years ago and
resided here until about six years
ago, when they moved to Kansas
City. Mr. Brainard died in Kansas
City a few years ago and the
body was returned here for burial.

Mrs. Brainard was a member of
the Methodist Episcopal church
and was an active worker in the
church when she resided here.

Besides Miss Pearl Brainard, she
is survived by two other daughters,
Mrs. George Story and Mrs.
Bert Casey, both of Kansas City,
and a son, Bert Brainard of
Beaumont, Tex., who was at her
bedside when she died.

George Emery and Katherine Louise Story,
will return Monday to Kansas City after a
ten-day visit here in the home of the
former's daughter, Mrs. Stella Casey,
who only returned recently from Kansas City.
