Tony Ray "Amp" Anthony was born on November 28, 1954 to the late Curtis Anthony Sr. and Vala Nelson Anthony. He was the eleventh child of twelve children.

On Friday evening June 11, 2021 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, God in his mercy called his child to his eternal resting place.

He was educated in the Jackson City Schools and gradated from Jackson-Central-Merry High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Armed Forces. There he served his country for eight years.

As a young boy the seed of spiritual truth was planted at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He later joined 12th Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. The pastor, Rev. Overton was instrumental in Tony coming back to his spiritual roots.

He had stern but loving upbringing, he was an outgoing person who made friends quite easily. He enjoyed Baseball, Basketball, and Football. Drawing was Tony's true talent and he spent hours perfecting his gift.

He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Ellen Snowden, Frances Long, Mozella Tomlin, Louise Theus, Charles Anthony, David Anthony, and Curtis Anthony.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers: Carl Anthony, James (Denise) Anthony, Eugene Anthony, John (Annie) Anthony; a very special friend: Arlene Dent, a very close niece: Carolyn Thompson and a host of other relatives and friends.
