Rasie Michael "Razzy" Bailey, 82, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home. Born February 14, 1939 in Five Points, Alabama, he was the son of the late Erastus Bailey and Adella Singleton Bailey.

Razzy was a professional singer and songwriter who devoted his life to music. At 15 the string band that he led took second place at a talent show at Auburn University. In the 1960's, Razzy contributed on several songs for Atlantic Records. One of those songs, "9,999,999 tears" reached number three in 1976 after being rerecorded by Dickey Lee. Razzy had 6 consecutive number one hits with "What Time Do You Have To Be Back In Heaven?", "Loving Up A Storm", "I Keep Coming Back", "Friends", "Midnight Hauler" and "She Left Love All Over Me." In 1981, Billboard Magazine named Razzy Country Singles Artist of the Year. He is in the University of Georgia Celebrity Hall in Athens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Marlene Bailey Jackson and Tanya Bailey; grandson Brice Bennett; son Dean Watson.

He is survived by his wife and daughters

Visitation will be Thursday, August 12 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place on Friday, August 13, at 1 PM at the funeral home with the family receiving friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral.
