Dennis 'Dee Tee' Thomas, a founding member of Kool & the Gang, died at age 70. Kool & the Gang's long-running soul-funk band is know for such hits as "Celebration" and "Get Down On It."

The group's other founders are brothers Ronald and Robert Bell, Spike Mickens, Ricky Westfield, George Brown and Charles Smith.

Thomas is survived by his wife, , daughter and two sons, aunt Mary "Duggie", two sisters, a brother and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Lee Thomas, sister Darlene Thomas and his daughters, Michelle Thomas and Tracy Jackson.
