Obituary Bismarck Tribune (August 13, 2008)
ZAP - Aileen Justine Welk, 58, rural Zap, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Aug. 11, 2008, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday, Aug. 15, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Scott Frederickson officiating. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, south of Beulah.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. MDT Thursday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Aileen was born April 16, 1950, in Hazen, to John and Martha (Henke) Baier. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen. She was raised on the family farm south of Hazen.

Aileen completed her education in Hazen, graduating in 1967. Meeting the love of her life, she married Tom Welk June 21, 1974, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. Together they shared 34 wonderful years. They were blessed with two children, Amy Lynne and David Thomas. Aileen was a valued employee at Missouri Slope Clinic for 21 years. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Bible School, was a member of WELCA, served on the Altar Guild, ushered and was a scripture reader. Aileen had many hobbies. She enjoyed watching her Twins and Vikings, scrap booking, crocheting, cross-stitching, fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, singing, cooking, baking and generally being outdoors. Her pride and joy were her two beautiful grandchildren, Katie and Avery.

Aileen is survived by her husband, Tom Welk, Zap; her daughter, Amy (Wyatt) Dinius, Dickinson; her son, David (Lyn) Welk, Dickinson; two granddaughters, Katie and Avery Welk, Dickinson; her sister, Marcella (Clarence) Foss, Hazen; three brothers, Ron (Susan) Baier, Oxnard, Calif., Burton (LaRita) Baier, Hazen, and Dennis (Sandy) Baier, Mandan; her in-laws, Richard and Tabea Welk, Zap, Judy Welk, Beulah, and Tim (Linda) Welk, Zap; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as countless neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha (Henke) Baier.
