From Donald's discharge records it was learned that Donald graduated from Technical High School, in Argyle, Minnesota in June 1941. Shortly after high school graduation he enlisted in the US Army Air Corp enlisting on 26 July 1941 he was discharged on 29 September 1945 as a Staff Sgt. In WWII, he served as a glider pilot on D-Day, June 6, 1944 out of England, making 15 flights in a period of 72 hours during the European invasion. He served with the 355th Fighter Group for two years. Donald participated in 6 major campaigns in the European Theater of operations during WWII. Metals received during service: European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal; American Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Distinguished Unit Citation Badge and four service bars.
After WWII he married and joined the Minneapolis, Minnesota Police Department. Later in life he and Marge moved to Reno, Nevada to live.
