His obituary which appeared in the Daily World, Opelousas, Louisiana, 11 November 1974 reads: Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Homer Joseph Aguillard, 47, who died at his home in Crowley as a result of injuries received in a fire. Burial will be in the Mowata cemetery under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley. He was a native of Mowata and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his widow, Ethel Dies Aguillard of Crowley; two sons, Michael and Russell Aguillard, both of Crowley; four daughters, Mrs. Edrie Cardiff of Lafayette, Mrs. Betty Daigle of Crowley and Misses Barbara and Brenda Aguillard both of Crowley; four brothers, Leit Aguillard of Crowley, Eldridge Aguillard and Gillman Aguillard, both of Eunice, and Lawrence Aguillard Jr., of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Landry of Basile, Mrs. Winnie Fontenot of Eunice, Mrs. Jeanette Cormier of Mowata and Mrs. Loyce Holte of Los Angeles, Cal., and two grandchildren.
