John H. Thede, Scott County Pioneer Farmer Dies; Funeral Friday
John H. Thede, a life resident of Scott County, and a farmer for many years prior to his retirement in 1909, died this morning in a nursing home at 1025 West Fourth street, Davenport, following an illness of three months.
He was born in Scott County, June 28, 1860 and farmed near Dixon until his retirement when he moved to Dixon where he lived until 1919 when he came to Davenport.
Mr. Thede was of Lutheran faith and a member of the Scott County Old Settler's association.
He married Catherine Petersen April 8, 1884, and she preceded him in death, Feb. 6, 1939.
Survivors include two sons, Peter J., and Henry of Davenport; four daughters, Mrs. Adolph Lensch and Mrs. Urban F. Ott of Davenport, and Mrs. John J. Engel and Mrs. William Grace of Bennett; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held from the Halligan funeral home Friday at 2 p.m., with burial in the Dixon cemetery.
