Kay Allen, age 69, of Erwin, after a 45 year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017 at her home. A native of Erwin, she was a daughter of the late Isaac Abraham and Dixie Marie Whitt Laws.

Kay was a member of Fishery Community Church, where she was the organist for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Laws. Kay worked as an LPN for over 40 years and was blessed in her career as a nurse. She worked in different areas of nursing, but retired from the Department of Health having worked at both the Unicoi County and Washington County Health Departments and she retired from Unicoi County Health Department in 2007. Kay was a clinic nurse, a home health nurse, child development and HUGS nurse - which stands for Help Us Grow, where she saw children in the home from birth to school age, and developed many special relationships with the children as well as their mothers. Kay served as a TSEA (Tennessee State Employees Association) representative, serving on the sick bank for several years, Appalachian Chapter as President, Treasurer and Board Member, and continued on as a TSEA member. Kay always wanted to be a nurse, just like her mom, aunts and cousins. She believed that there was nothing more rewarding than caring for God's people. Kay has been saved since she was 12 years old and she lived to serve God, her family and community..

Kay Allen has left behind to cherish her memories:
Husband of over 51 years: Doug Allen, of Erwin;
Daughter: Nancy Allen McGee and husband Eric, of Jonesborough;
Sons: Michael Allen and wife Laura, of Erwin;
Brian Allen and fiancé Chana Kirby and her children Tyler and Peyton, of Erwin
Grandson: Isaac McGee
Half Brothers: James Laws, of Erwin; Abram Laws, of Erwin.
